Just like it did for their engagement session, the day of the wedding it poured rain, it hailed and it thundered. But it didn’t do any of that when it came time for this New Mexico ranch wedding ceremony.
I think one of my favorite parts of the day was the unity branding they did during the ceremony. To start the fathers came up and branded the hide with the family ranch brands. Then Justin and Sarah took the brand they have together and branded the center.
No grass fires were started in the process.
As I get to travel the country and capture ranch weddings in other places, one thing I often miss is the traditional Hispanic La Marcha Wedding Dance. The dance starts with the bride, groom, family and wedding party following a designated couple related to the newlyweds. As they start dancing around in a line around the reception, guests start to join. After a while, the lines of dancing people separate, circle around each other, and create tunnels by people raising their arms for the newlyweds to pass underneath. The dance ends as a tight circle is made around the new couple, who then dance alone, surrounded by their guests.
If you haven’t yet, you really should see it sometime. For now, here’s some photos…
