It all started because they had a mutual friend and Cole accidentally added (or not, they’re still “discussing” that) Elsie on Snapchat. They started visiting online, and it wasn’t long before Elsie told her mom “I’m going to marry this guy.”
Riding around in the pickup with these two I loved hearing them tell their story…a guy cowboying in Utah and a ranch girl in California. It is full of chance encounters, funny moments and meaningful experiences that that brought them together. One of my favorite parts was how (before they ever met in person) Elsie’s family was vacationing in Moab and while they were out exploring the backroads stumbled across a cow camp. When they saw it, Elsie’s mom whispered to her that Cole probably lived there. So Elsie sent Cole a photo teasing about it. He responded that he’d lived there and only moved three days earlier after they’d cleaned out that area (gathered/moved cattle to another place)…she sent him another photo of 3 head and said: “You missed some.” Sure enough, they’d been short! I couldn’t help but ask if Cole knew that was the moment he knew this was the gal for him. #cowboylogic
The two finally met in real life last winter when Cole went to California for knee surgery. They’ve been together since.
If you are gonna shoot in some place as vast and grand as the Canyonlands around Moab Utah, then you’ll want someone whose cowboyed all over the area to take you to that “one spot” he rode by looking for pairs. Along the way, Cole would point out some bluff and tell us a story about that time he roped this or saw that. I enjoyed the heck out of seeing this incredible country through the eyes of someone who knew the “off the beaten path” places.
I’m so happy for these two and tickled to they choose me to capture this special time for them. I mean. Just LOOK at this location and how adorable they are together!
Ps. How beautiful is her dress from Savannah Sevens?
