Two years ago I had posted that I was going to be road-tripping through Wyoming for a pile of photoshoots. I got an Instagram message from a complete stranger who said she’d love to meet-up for coffee while I was in Jackson Wyoming (okay…and no one knows where this is until I say…”You know, Jackson Hole.”)
First of all… let’s establish something here. I get “I want to meet you while you are in the area” messages alllllll the time. And 99% of the time I say, “So sorry…I’m busy.” Because 1) I’m typically crazy busy on trips. 2) It’s not really safe to be a woman traveling alone meeting complete strangers.
But then there was Trissta. She is my 1%. I don’t really know what possessed me to say yes…but I did. (Maybe it was because she’d been faithfully liking and commenting on my photos for ages.) And so one August day found me bleary-eyed and exhausted after the 17th day of traveling/camping sitting at Cowboy Coffee waiting for this complete stranger and thinking WHY did I do this to myself?
But then Trissta sat down and immediately we connected, visiting about our childhoods, ranch connections and our big dreams.
Somewhere along the way, I asked if she had a boyfriend. She got this most adorable, sheepish little smile and said, “Well…there’s a boy.”
She’d met Jesse through mutual friends after moving to Jackson Wyoming and while he’d been hinting at more, she held him at arm’s length. But he waited…oh so gently winning her heart over. Then last August he proposed with the solar eclipse. When she said in awe “Look, it really is a ring!” he held up the ring to the sun and said “Yeah, look at that ring.”
I had to rein in my excitement when he backed his beautiful Checker Areobus out of the garage for their engagement session. Holy photo prop dreams!
And guess what! It’ll be apart of their wedding at the foot of the Teton Mountains later this summer! I’m not excited. At all.
