I love that photography takes me to so many different corners of the country and introduces me to so many amazing couples and their families. That, combined with beautifully done DIY ranch wedding details and sweet moments are what make my “job” of capturing meaningful memories so much fun!
The ceremony started with the guests arriving with irons in hand to brand the perfect “guest book” picnic table before finding a place to sit and enjoy the beautiful view surrounding Ricky & Alyssa’s ceremony site. And my favorite part? The florals for the bouquets, boutonniere and ceremony decorations were all HOMEGROWN by family.
After the sun set and the reception was in full swing, the Groom, Father of the Bride and Father of the Groom…embolden by a little strong drink and backed-up by the Dennison County Line Band…howled out a ridiculous song about some lady in Louisiana with all they were worth. It definitely wasn’t a typical “wedding song” but as I watched the three of them up there sharing a mic I was struck by the way it really spoke about the bond these two separate families have built through the journey Ricky, Alyssa and their son Max have shared bringing them all to that moment. And THAT is why this pregnant photographer got a little teary eyed listening to a song about a voodoo lady named Marie Laveau. #youwouldcrytooifyouhadthesehormones
I wish this little family the best of luck as they continue their story for many years to come and I hope our paths cross again in the near future!
