Ranch Wedding Photography

New Mexico Based - Est. 2010

I still vividly remember the moment as a kid when I decided I wanted to be a photographer. As the local veterinarians daughter I’d gone to work with daddy and we’d been vaccinating heifers on a rural New Mexico ranch. As usual we had been invited inside for lunch by the ranch wife and I was standing in their rustic living room when I looked up and saw a picture above the mantle. It was a picture of a cowdog working cattle and the horseback cowboy in the background. That photo made such a huge impression on me I thought “I want to take pictures like that!”

When Kyra told me they had picked a canyon location outside of Fort Sumner New Mexico I was skeptical. I’ve shot in the area multipule times now and was convinced that it wasn’t an overly exciting area of the Enchanted State. But when we pulled up to “The Hole” I had to eat crow because all of a sudden, in the middle of said flat country, there was a to-die-for photoshoot location! And by “all of a sudden” I mean it’s the kinda place where you wouldn’t want to be headed anywhere at a high trot because you don’t really see the canyon until it’s under your chin.

Makayla | New Mexico Senior Portrait Photography

I love taking Ranchlife pictures and I don’t get to do it nearly enough! And when I do they usually (unfortunately) get pushed to the back burner as I am often trying to reach client deadlines with portrait images! But I’ve had a few hours to sit on my rear today and pulled together a […]
